Construction at last, ( sort of...)

Well, after months of messing around with drawings, we finally got bids out, bids returned mostly on time, but a few late, bids clarified, then awarded about 3 weeks ago.

The successful contractor has pulled the building permit, installed silt fence and soil control measures to avoid soil erosion for rain water run-off, and started excavation for the foundation.  With a bit if a snag.  It seems the prior owners did not fully remove their old foundation.  I know that some materials were in place, just be walking around yuo could see/feel concrete at the ground surface, so I figured that there was a chance of more unseen below.  To get a firm price would haev involved a bunch of excavation and messing around, so I just left it undefined for the bids.

We now know that there's alot of stuff still to be removed, and that needs different machines than they have there now.  So, a bit of a delay until the right machine is available, ( thursday next week, 4/26 or so).

The site work was supposed to start Monday 4/16, but rain on Mon and Tues delayed that.  Soil control stuff started Wednesday, then excation and discovery of the old foundation was Thursday.

Here are pictures of gravel wheel wash and silt fence on the lot:

Here's the silt fence on the water side to protect the bayou from soil runoff:

And now, here are the surprises that were found during excavation:
